Ventrilo & BNC maintenance
posted by SparKeh | 1-4-2006 | 23:28 | Hosting News
On Monday 10th April we will be carrying out routine maintenance on our Ventrilo & BNC Servers. This downtime will affect all customers using these services. Read on for more information.

At approximately 11:00am ventrilo.taa-gaming.com will be taken offline for hopefully no longer than 30 minutes.

Our BNC server kitten.taa-gaming.com (bouncer.taa-gaming.com) will also be taken offline for approximately a few hours.

It is important that we do this to improve the performance of our machines, thus our services. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers for this short downtime period.

Maintenance complete
posted by SparKeh | 25-2-2006 | 17:26 | Hosting News
Earlier today we moved our servers to a new rack-mount cabinet in Telehouse. All our services experienced some downtime but everything is now complete. Read more for further details.

All of our Ventrilo servers are now up and running on ventrilo.taa-gaming.com.

All CS and CSS Ports have been steam updated and started. All of the free HLTV demo recorders that come with our CS Ports now have 5 spectator slots and a HLTV delay of 90seconds to keep in-line with some league/ladder rules.

All BNC’s have been restarted, however it make take a while for your BNC to reconnect to QuakeNet as a lot of connections connecting at once causes throttling. If your BNC is not online by tomorrow evening please contact support.

All of our web servers, dedicated servers and colocation services are running as normal again. Also during this maintenance period we also installed a new switch.

We would like to thank you for your patience while we carried out these necessary upgrades.

Planned maintenance
posted by SparKeh | 9-2-2006 | 19:15 | Hosting News
On 25th February we will be moving our servers into a new, deeper rack. All our machines will be taken offline whilst the move is taking place. This downtime will affect all services and all customers. Read on for more information.

The new rack will allow better airflow for our servers and will hopefully resolve the occasional cooling problems that we have experienced in the past.

In addition, we have purchased a new, high-specification machine to host our rapidly-growing number of Ventrilo servers and will use this maintenance period to move customers onto this server. Please ensure that you are connecting to ventrilo.taa-gaming.com, as this will be pointed at the new server once the maintenance begins.

The timetable for the maintenance is as follows:
- 10:00 - All servers taken offline
- 10:30 - Ventrilo servers accessible on ventrilo.taa-gaming.com
- 11:00 - Webserver back online
- 12:00 - CS 1.6 and CS:S servers online
- 12:30 - Colocation & dedicated servers back online
- 16:00 - Bouncers available

TAA-Online thanks you for your understanding as we make these necessary changes to improve the quality of service that we provide to our customers.

Ventrilo 2.3.1 Server
posted by SparKeh | 25-8-2005 | 9:26 | Hosting News
Ventrilo have released version 2.3.1. Later tonight we will be updating our Ventrilo Servers. To find out what this update consists of please read more

Quoted from Flagship Industries, Inc (Ventrilo):

"2.3.1 fixes a Denial of Service exploit that was recently discovered. The exploit does not compromise your system but it will crash the software.

2.3.1 is compatible with all 2.3.x clients so the upgrade can be made at your convenience. But we strongly encourage you to apply the new version as soon as possible so that the malicious script kiddies will not be able to crash your servers.

We have also re-enabled the rcon command "password" that was present in previous versions as it was requested by several people shortly after the release of 2.3.0."

All server ports, passwords, channels etc will remain untouched. The update will be carried out around 7pm tonight and your server will be restarted. Estimated downtime per server for the update is 30 seconds.

All our ventrilo servers will be updated tonight. This means you must use the new 2.3.0 client to connect to our servers. Click here to download the new client.

All your channels, users and passwords will remain the same, however a few settings have changed. You will notice there is no comment beside our website address at the top of your ventrilo. Reshuffle Part 3
posted by SparKeh | 11-10-2004 | 22:50 | Hosting News
Tonight we've completed the third phase of our upgrade plan. This sees movement of Ventrilo services to new hardware. All Ventrilo clients please read on for more details.

The remainder of Ventrilo servers not moved during the weekend have now been re-sited and tested. We have updated DNS records so your existing details will connect you to the new server, as soon as your local ISP's dns servers update. This may takes from a few minutes to several hours so please be patient.

Clients on larger ISP's seeing extended delays please use the server name "kitten.taa-gaming.com" and their allocated port. This will ensure connection to the correct server until your original hostname updates.

We will leave the old servers online for a while anyway, but clients may see some players connecting to old or new servers depending on their dns records. In such cases please perform the temporary fix outlined above.

This shuffle has required the movement of 2 Ventrilo servers. The mix and public servers have not moved server, they have only moved ports. They are now available as follows:

VENTRILO MIX SERVER: mix.vent.taa-gaming.com PORT 6001

VENTRILO PUBLIC SERVER: public.vent.taa-gaming.com PORT 6002

That's all for now, more details on phase 4 of our ongoing upgrade plan soon.

Reshuffle Part 2
posted by SparKeh | 9-10-2004 | 6:19 | Hosting News
Later today we will be performing several server moves and additions. Please read on for full details of servers affected.

Our existing kitten server appliance is being moved to a new home. It will also change IP and hostname. This move is a little complicated to describe so we've decided to publish the affects on each service type individually to aid understanding. The following is a complete list of changes:

CS Clans ports - will be affected and effectively once complete will reside on cougar.taa-gaming.com on IP 213.230.205.226

Ventrilo comms - will not be affected at this point other than by brief downtime whilst moves are in progress. All services will remain as is for now.

BNCs - will not be affected at this point other than by brief downtime whilst moves are in progress. All services will remain as if for now.

Ventrilo comms and BNCs will be affected at a later date when they are moved to new hardware dedicated to serving only services. Clients using our preferred hostname system to connect to servers will not need to change anything. However, clients insisting on using IP numbers to connect will see some changes.

A separate news post will be made to announce any IP changes. This move over will most likely be a gradual process and as always works will be undertaken during off peak hours.

Reshuffle Part 1
posted by SparKeh | 3-10-2004 | 12:07 | Hosting News
We are planning a gradual reshuffle of services and servers shortly. Some Ventrilo and BNC services will see some changes. All clients are required to read the full article. Read on for more details.

We will over the next few months be adding several new servers to our network. This is to ensure we can fulfil demand for our growing service products base, mainly Ventrilo and BNC's. New hardware will be installed within the next few weeks.

All Ventrilo's and BNC's will be moved to new hardware dedicated to serving only services. This will involve IP and hostname changes for a number of clients. However, as IP's and hostname are being reused, most clients will not be affected.

A full list of changes will be made available well in advance of the actual moves, which will be performed during off peak hours as usual. Downtime should be very brief, most likely a matter of minutes. All clients will be emailed with all relevant changes and schedule information.

With these changes we begin a series of upgrades which will ensure a stable and efficient platform for our growing services base. We look forward to adding new services very soon, including CS:S clan ports, CoD clan ports, colocation and dedicated server packages and more. Additional news will be posted as soon as available.

Scheduled downtime
posted by SparKeh | 4-9-2004 | 2:14 | Hosting News
Our kitten server will be taken offline for routine upgrades and maintenance this weekend. All services on this server will be affected. All users please read on for more details.

Kitten will go offline at approximately 8am on Sunday morning and remain offline until as late as 6pm that day. It will take us a few hours to restore the server to production status but all services should be online that evening.

This server is being updated with an improved os and other tweaks in preparation for testing Counter-Strike: Source servers (CS:S) as well as the upcoming Half-Life 2.

It looks like the CS:S beta will last longer than expected and Valve recently released an update to fix issues which prevented us from testing the early beta, namely passworded server support. We hope to have some CS:S servers up within a few days.

We apologise for this short down time and the short notice of this announcement. We have scheduled works during off peak hours to minimise disruption.

BNC pricing online & Ventrilo options expanded
posted by SparKeh | 30-8-2004 | 14:47 | Hosting News
As some of you will be aware we've been recoding the websites backend order/pricing system for sometime. Much to our dismay our coder has let us down and after many months of delays we cannot wait any longer. Please read on for more details.

The volume of requests we receive for extended and additional services has steadily increased over the past few months. After much delay and deliberation we have decided to code basic pricing / ordering pages ourselves.

Pricing /ordering for CS 1.6 Clan servers has been transferred to the new temp system but no options changes have been made. For the first time we have pricing / ordering of IRC bouncers (BNCs) online. Ventrilo pricing / ordering has also been moved and we now offer a much wider range of options. All Ventrilo options have also seen a considerable price drop. We now offer some of the most aggressive Ventrilo prices in Europe.

We already have pricing matrixes for colocation and dedicated server hosting and will be transferring this to the temp system shortly. You will also see an option for Counter-Strike Source servers. This is of course pre-emtive, we have a pricing / order form ready to go for Source servers, but it will not go live until load testing has been done using non-beta source files.

The new pricing / ordering pages are available from the following url:

http://www.taa-gaming.com/order

or CLICK HERE

We hope to have the dedi/colo pricing online within a few days. In the mean time please feel to email us your exact requirements, we will quote by return.

As mentioned earlier, the backend of our website still needs consiberable debugging/recoding - We are now looking for a capable, hardworking and cost effective PHP+MySQL programmer to complete works on our website. We know we can go for commercial coders but... We also know there are many coders out there eager for a chance to work on a sizable, expanding website with a good reputation and high visibility. Experience with website graphics / artwork preferred but not essential. You know who you are, why not email us with your credentials / portfolio?
